Thinking of a cosmetic tattoo procedure? Learn what is involved here

For those who have never had a cosmetic tattooing procedure before, it may seem a little daunting – we get it. But, we’re here to explain exactly what it is and what it involves so you feel comfortable and confident enhancing the natural beauty of your brows, eyes and lips with this safe, effective and low-maintenance procedure.

How does it work?
Put simply, cosmetic tattooing involves putting pigment into the dermal (top) layer of the skin with a pen-like digital machine. The pigment used in the procedure is an iron oxide base, which is safe, non-reactive and sterile.

In the few days following the procedure, the pigment will appear 20 to 30 per cent darker. The colour will lighten and soften in three to 10 days, and at the four-week mark the colour will be representative of the lasting look. After four weeks you’ll pop in for a signature ‘re-touch perfection’ visit to perfect your treatment, making any minor colour or shape adjustments you’d like.

How long does it take?

Cosmetic tattooing normally takes two to three hours, depending on what procedure you’re having done. It may seem like a while, but this is because every care is taken to ensure the very precise work is perfect.

Does it hurt and is it safe?
People’s pain thresholds are different, but at Lilac Rose Cosmetic Tattoo, they use specialised anaesthetics to make the experience as comfortable as possible – some people even fall asleep!

Lilac Rose performs all of its procedures following the strict hygiene and sterilising requirements of Queensland law. All devices used in the process are single use only, and all technicians hold a ‘skin penetration licence.

How long does it last and how do you maintain it?
Most cosmetic tattooing lasts one to three years, depending on several factors including age, exposure to sun, medications, and how the customer looks after their skin i.e. using products containing strong exfoliation and skin bleaching agents will fade the treatment faster.

In addition to your four-week re-touch perfection visit, to maintain the colour intensity of your enhancement, you can revisit for a touch-up every 12 months.

All in all, it’s an easy process, and Lauren at Lilac Rose makes you feel comfortable and confident in every way. Call for a chat and to book a consult today.
